BBC Tavern and Grill began back in 1994 as the Brandywine Brewing Company. At the time, BBC was located at 3801 Kennett Pike in the building that now houses Pizza By Elizabeths. Brandywine Brewing Company made its own beer on-site and lovingly paired each batch with its made-from-scratch meals.

Ten years later, in a wild twist of fate, Brandywine Brewing Co. moved to a new location which, confusingly, was the former home of Pizza by Elizabeth’s. However, due to space constraints, the brewing element of the establishment had to be scrapped, turning the institution into the tavern it is today with “16 beers on draught and over 50 in the can or bottle.”

Now, Dietz is gearing up to provide BBC some companionship…or competition. What Now Philly caught up with the founder for a few more details:

WNP: What will Bar Reverie’s menu consist of?

Dietz: French-American-inspired dishes, in-house-made pastries and desserts, and an extensive, thoughtfully-curated wine list.

WNP: Which menu item are you most excited about?

Dietz: It’s a toss-up between the Croque Monsieur, Beef Bourguignon, and Chocolate Croissants. Our pastry chef is amazing!

WNP: What can customers expect in terms of vibe/energy/aesthetic?

Dietz: A sophisticated, yet comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Downtown Manhattan restaurant.

WNP: What was the motivation behind opening this new establishment?

Dietz: The Creative Director, Lauren Golt, presented me with a concept that she was confident would fill a void in the local market.

WNP: Do you have plans to open any more restaurants/businesses?

Dietz: Not at this time.
