The restaurant, which will focus on an array of wood-fired dishes, is setting up kitchen at 348 South Main Street. Owner Vince Bruzzese explains to What Now Philadelphia that the location was too good to pass up. He states: “I was born and raised in Williamstown so I was able to find this location that was already established and had all the equipment in there.”
The success and stability of Traveling Tomato helped Bruzzese feel confident in pursuing a new project. He says “The opportunity arose at a time when my other business had been established for a while. It works perfectly for our seasons-we’re busy from late spring to the end of October, and this will supplement our income and give us a place to showcase what we can do.”
Traveling Tomato fans need not worry; the business will remain active even as Ash & Oak begins greeting guests.
The new eatery will provide a superior dining experience, without breaking the bank. Bruzzese describes it, stating “What we envision is a place where you can have more of an upscale meal with a casual dining price.”
He adds that the menu has been finalized, and guests can look forward to “artisan wood fired pizza, fresh pasta, and we’ll focus a lot of our specialty entrees around the wood fired oven.” Bruzzese describes some of the highlights guests can anticipate, including “a bunch of different shareables-woodfired wings, a play on labna-an Indian dish-but we’re going to do it more like a cheese dip, make it an Italian ricotta dip.”
Visitors will be able to wash their meals down with a bottle of their favorite wine, or a uniquely crafted non-alcoholic drink. Bruzzese states: “It’s a BYOB so we’ll eventually start doing some mocktails and pairing dinners with local wineries and breweries.”
Williamstown foodies won’t need to wait much longer to sample Ash & Oak’s fare; Bruzzese states that the full menu will be launched by November 1, and that he hopes to begin serving pizzas as early as this weekend.
His goal with the restaurant is simple but admirable; he states “We just want to put out nice food so people can see what we can offer.”
