The press release for Bankroll says, “In partnership with STARR Restaurants, Bankroll redefines the way sports and live events are experienced – merging an unmatched digital experience with a sophisticated environment. The high-end restaurant and bar will focus on great food, unparalleled hospitality, and exquisite design – alongside an integrated digital experience via the Bankroll app as well as other curated events and experiences.”

When What Now Philadelphia spoke to Paul Martino, the founder of Bankroll and CEO of Bullpen Capital, he said that Bankroll is going to be a “next-generation live sports and entertainment venue and the coolest place to watch events.” Martino added that the downstairs area will have a seated restaurant, the upstairs area will have the same menu, and there will be “rentable living rooms” where guests can get comfortable. There will also be a full bar.

Partners JKRP Architects, Avroko, and Clemens Construction Company will be working with Bankroll to revitalize an important section of Center City by restoring the historic Boyd Theater building which will enhance the vibrancy of a core Philadelphia neighborhood.

Martino also mentioned to What Now Philadelphia that he was getting texts from friends who saw the potential for the venue to host many different types of entertainment events that aren’t just sporting events. Movies and appointment television are two potential options that spring to mind, but the venue could host most anything. Bankroll will not place bets or have a sportsbook, but guests can feel free to place bets with legal betting services that operate outside of Bankroll. Martino thinks that it could only add to the excitement of the experience.

It’s too early in the process to share any details of the dishes that Stephen Starr’s STARR Restaurants will be creating for Bankroll, but the anticipation is running high about what these specially curated menus could bring to the food scene of Philadelphia and patrons of Bankroll. With STARR Restaurants‘ iconic brand and culinary excellence, it’s only a matter of time until they wow us all.

It is projected that Bankroll will open its doors by the fall of 2022 and CEO Padma Rao said, “We are elated to bring such a novel experience to the city of Philadelphia where sports are deeply woven into the fabric of the community. Bankroll will be a seamless blend of tech and luxury – combining personal service and high-end cuisine in an immersive environment. It’s an honor to revitalize The Boyd Theater to become a place once again for entertainment and excitement.”
