What Now Philadelphia was not immediately able to connect with a representative of Bowlero for comment.
In a Facebook post shared last Saturday, Feb 4, The Big Event’s president, Jon Perper wrote, “Our venue has an exciting announcement and major change underway. The Big Event & Erlton Social are in the final process of being acquired by the Bowlero Corporation and will begin operating under Bowlero’s ownership in the very near future. To prepare for this transition, The Big Event & Erlton Social will be closed to the general public as of Tuesday, Feb 14 and reopen under Bowlero’s ownership on Friday, Feb 17.”
Perper went on to write, “It is well known that the value of a business is created through the support of customers like you and Bowlero is committed to providing the best customer experience possible. All events post-acquisition for both venues will be honored as booked and the same great fun will be waiting for you,” adding, “We thank each of you for your loyalty and continued patronage. Many wonderful memories have been created at The Big Event Entertainment Experience & Erlton Social Craft Bar & Kitchen.”
With some 300 bowling facilities spread across the globes, Bowlero enjoys the distinction as “The world’s largest owner and operator of bowling entertainment centers,” and prides itself on “[delivering] a strikingly unique experience to over 27 million guests.”
More than just a bowling center, Bowlero offers a lane-side menu that includes its ambitious six-pound Behemoth Burger, a 123-ounce Dunk Tank cocktail, craft and local brews, and chicken wings. Likewise, the expanded events menu features Lamb Lollipops, Oven-Fried Pizzas, and more.
Needless to say, bowling alleys aren’t always known for the food, however, Bowler’s “amazing lineup of epic eats and signature drinks are super famous, with national TV appearances and features in USA Today and Thrillist’s ‘Best of’ lists,” as the company writes on its website.
