Have you ever wished that you could get a healthy meal on the go without getting out of your car? Those in Camden County who have will soon get that option when Chopt Creative Salad Co. opens in Cherry Hill. According to 70 and 73, the salad and grain bowl eatery will open in the former Pier 1 space at 801 Haddonfield Rd. with a modern drive-thru design. Chopt’s drive-thru lane was approved by the Cherry Hill Planning Board in November and will be reserved for customers who are picking up their online orders.

“This is the first time they’re trying the mobile pick-up window,” Ronald Aulenbach, director of engineering at Edgewood Properties, said during a planning board meeting, 70 and 73 reports.

Edgewood Properties has also signed a lease for three other tenants to move into the Pier 1 space, including &pizza, Trinity Rehab, and Wild Fork Foods. Chopt was started in 2001 by college friends Tony Shure and Colin McCabe with their original location in New York City’s Union Square. They currently have 67 locations in New York City, Washington D.C., Virginia, Connecticut, Westchester NY, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

“Aiming to change the future of fast food, Chopt pushes the boundaries of what a salad can be with its core menu of 14 Classics, three rotating Seasonal Specials, 25 homemade, small-batch dressings, and limited-time-only ‘Super Seasonals’ that feature local produce only at its peak,” their Linkedin page reads.

Chopt’s limited-time salads include the Crispy Cholula Chicken Salad, which has fried chicken tossed in Cholula chipotle hot sauce, spicy pickled veggies, jalapeno, avocado, cotija cheese, toasted pumpkin seeds, romaine, and cabbage and cilantro blend with sweet and spicy jalapeno ranch. In addition to salads, Chopt also offers warm bowls like the Harvest Bowl with warm grains or cauliflower rice drizzled with creamy lemon herb dressing topped with warm roasted chicken, roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, marinated kale, and toasted pumpkin seeds with white balsamic vinaigrette. You can also make your own salads and bowls, have a cookie or brownie, or grab some dressing to go.
