When Karen Doucette bit into her first Crumbl Cookies cookie, she fell in love. After years of mulling different franchises, this would be the one she and her husband Darrell would invest in.
“It’s been a dream of mine to open a franchise ever since I was 18 years old,” Doucette told What Now Philadelphia. “This is a brand and product I would be a passionate customer about, which made me know this was the brand I wanted to get involved with.”
The Manalapan couple is now getting ready to open two Crumbl Cookies locations. Their 1,700 sq. ft. space in Seaview Square in Ocean Township will open in late December/early January, while their 1,650 sq. ft. Cherry Hill location at Towne Place at Garden State Park will open in February or March of 2022.
“Cherry Hill is such a great area for so many reasons. The shopping center is so large and draws in so many people. It’s also a beautiful brand new building near the Costco, it’s exciting we get to be the very first business in that space. We also have some close friends who live in Cherry Hill, so we are in the area a lot,” Doucette said.
A third location is also planned for their hometown. The Doucettes have been working with R.J. Brunelli & Co. President Danielle Brunelli to secure their location and leases. Doucette said she was drawn to Crumbl Cookies for its unique rotating menu.
“I love the simplicity of the menu, only six different cookies, but also that it changes weekly so you could never get bored,” Doucette said. “Its staple cookie is the milk chocolate chip, and the others rotate weekly. They have currently come out with 200 different flavors of cookies and are working on new ones all the time.”
The Doucettes’ Crumbl Cookies locations will be outfitted in the franchise’s pretty pink and black design and offer in-store ordering, pickup, curbside pickup, and delivery.
Crumbl Cookies was started by cousins Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley. The first Crumbl Cookies was opened in 2017 in Logan, Utah. The company now has more than 264 bakeries in 36 states that serve decadent flavors like the Salted Caramel Cheese, a three-layer cookie with a graham cracker base and layer of cream cheese frosting that is topped with caramel and a pinch of sea salt. You’ll also find flavors like Hazelnut Churro, Caramel Popcorn, Maple Cinnamon Roll, and Pumpkin Pie.
