The beloved concept, which brings a unique and spooky perspective to the Lehigh Valley restaurant world, will be setting up its pizza oven at 125 East Third Street.
Co-owner Marc Kubushefski tells What Now Philadelphia that figuring out how to relaunch the business after the fire was a challenging endeavor. “Finding the new location was difficult. We were still under lease with our prior location but because of how long the rebuild was taking we needed to get out of our old lease which was an absolute mess…Long story short, our landlords had been telling us for months that construction would begin on our old location and by year to date of the fire, no construction had even been initiated.”
Paranormal Pizza was a Bethlehem institution before the fire, and Kubushefski and his partner and twin brother, Joey, maintained a close relationship with the community by holding pop-up events after the original brick and mortar shut down. While the Kubusheskis don’t intend to continue these events after the new location opens, Marc states they are not completely abandoning their nomadic ways. “As far as pizza pop ups go, we do not plan to do those when the pizza shop reopens. We are planning to keep the food truck for festivals and events though.”
Long-time fans can look forward to enjoying Paranormal’s old menu, which features delicious vegan pizzas, seitan wings, and french fries. Kubushefski says that, while it’s too early to state definitively, the restaurant may add some new items to its repertoire.
Paranormal’s future regulars can look forward to enjoying a hot, fresh slice in a unique environment. Kubushefski describes it, saying “The vision for the space is pretty cool. We are going to keep the paranormal/sci-fi theme. We plan to have a gothic theme for the interior of the space. We will still host some spooky events as well.”
Bethlehem foodies still have a little while to wait before sinking their teeth into Paranormal’s new location. Kubushefski states that the team is hoping to open the pizzeria’s new storefront next summer.
