Pita Chip, the Modern Middle Eastern quick-serve restaurant with locations on Temple University’s Campus and in University City, is finally ready to open their first suburban location — an expansive outpost located within the Oxford Oaks Shopping Center at 1623 Big Oak Road in Yardley, PA. The new location is 3,500 square feet with seating for up to 68, which is significantly larger than the business’ first two locations. The plan is to open the shop with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, May 18th at noon, followed by special events that benefit two local non-profits that night and the following, both from 5 to 9 p.m.

Sales from the May 18th and 19th dinners, which will be open to the public, will benefit Yardley-area non-profits, including Caring for Friends, which provides food and friendship to people in need in the Philadelphia area, and Congregation Kol Emet, a reconstructionist Jewish synagogue located approximately 5 miles from the restaurant in Morrisville, PA.

Omar Alsaadi and Mouhanad Kabbani, the Co-founders of Pita Chip, opened the original Temple location at 1600 North Broad Street in 2015. After three successful years, they launched the University City location at 3601 Market Street in May of 2018, the same year that Howard Klayman joined as a partner. Alsaadi, who emigrated to the U.S. from Syria in 1979, spent most of his life in the Philadelphia area cooking and evolving his recipes to mirror his experience as an immigrant.

“We are very excited to finally bring this brand to the suburbs after two years of planning, and I know Yardley is ready for us,” said Alsaadi in a statement. “We’ve met the community, we’ve had a preview event, and we are so excited to be welcomed by the wonderful people of Bucks County. We feel this is a concept that the community has been missing, and it’s a perfect start for our expansion to surrounding suburbs as well.”

Pita Chip’s menu features salad bowls, rice bowls, and pita wraps filled with fresh falafel, chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, and roasted vegetables, as well as hummus and sides.
