When Judy Chong first bit into a Sharp Italian from PrimoHoagies, she was taken aback. The seasoned sub was so amazingly delicious that she researched the company and became a franchisee. Now, 16 years after opening in Dresher, Chong will open a new space in King of Prussia’s Valley Forge Shopping Center.

“I’m the type of business person that can’t sell something that I don’t believe in, and I think that PrimoHoagies is the best in its field,” Chong told What Now Philadelphia.

Dresher’s sales jumped 45 percent after a pivot to focus on elevated customer service, product consistency, and strong teamwork morale. This prompted Chong to open a new eatery in a 2,500 sq. ft. spot at 105 Town Center Rd. next to PetSmart. The King of Prussia location has seating for about 50 customers and will offer kiosk ordering so customers can place their orders on a tablet and pick up at the counter if they want to skip the lines.

“My goal for having a lot of seating was to really be a part of the community. I think that was part of the success of Dresser’s 45 percent increase. I really focused on schools and police departments and bringing the community into the stores where people could recognize each others’ faces and be supportive of one another,” she said.

Chong is currently securing permits to build her store and is aiming for an April opening. Chong’s King of Prussia outpost is among 19 new PrimeHoagies franchises to open in throughout the U.S.

“I’m just so excited to be in the community of King of Prussia. I think demographically it’s one of the most challenging, but there’s also a strong residential and business footprint,” Chong said. “So, the company, along with myself, are beyond excited to be a part of the community. I spent a year trying to get into the King of Prussia, but I was patient, and I was resilient. I wanted Primo’s phenomenal product to be available to the residents of King of Prussia.”

The first PrimoHoagies Old Fashioned Style Italian Specialty Sandwiches opened in South Philadelphia in 1992. The company, headquartered in Westville, New Jersey, offers gourmet hoagies made from quality deli meat and cheeses and freshly baked rolls.
