Beer… glorious beer! It’s what probably comes to mind when you walk into Shangy’s and find yourself surrounded by the largest selection of beer in the country. But Shangy’s isn’t your average beer store, it’s a beer wonderland that also allows you to mix your own six-pack, fill a growler of craft beer, and enjoy boozy slushies. The beer lover’s paradise, which has had a location in Emmaus for 42 years, now has a second location in the works for Lower Macungie Township, which will open sometime between March and April.
“We’re known as beer heaven. We have customers in Emmaus that come from New Jersey and New York every day. It’s a candy store for beer lovers,” owner Mina Hadian told What Now Philadelphia. “We’rer excited. We love Macungie. It’s a reall up-and-coming town and there’s a lot of development.”
The new Shangy’s will at at 6480 Alburtis Rd. in Macungie in a 15,000 sq. ft. space which, according to The Morning Call, used to be inhabited by O2 OxyFit gym. In addition to the enormous selection of beer by the pack, you’ll also be able to mix your own six-pack of beer. Twenty varieties of rotating craft beer, both local and imported, will be poured from a 40 ft. bar and sold in 5-liter kegs; 8 oz., 12 oz., 16 oz, and 32 oz. crowlers, which is a can; as well as 64 oz. and 128 oz. growlers, which are glass bottles. The beer filling system, called the Gruber Growler Filler, will pressurize and seal the containers, making the beer consumable for up to 90 days.
Shangy’s slushie bar, which is a major hit in the Emmaus store, will have about 30 rotating flavors, like Pumpkin Pie, from companies like Get Slushed. A portion of the proceeds from slushie sales will be donated to the Lehigh County Human Society. Shangy’s will also sell cigars, as well as their famous fresh nuts. Making a quick pick-up?
