SimpleVenue’s Philly expansion involves some reorganization and relocation. The restaurant group has switched out Sushi Suite, a more upscale concept, with a more relaxed omakase experience called Sushi by Bou at 1832 Frankford Avenue. While this move has temporarily displaced Sushi Suite, SimpleVenue is not abandoning the concept. According to a press release provided to What Now Philadelphia SimpleVenue is intending to relocate the restaurant to a Center City location.
In addition to Sushi Suite’s migration, SimpleVenue is planning to open a second Sushi by Bou location in the city before the end of the year. The hospitality group has not revealed a location or precise timeline for either concept.
Michael Sinensky, SimpleVenue’s founder, explains that the Philadelphia takeover has long been planned, with great enthusiasm. He states: “We have been in talks to bring SimpleVenue concepts to the City of Brotherly Love for over two decades. Besides the close proximity to Metro New York and New Jersey, we wanted to bring our hospitality concepts here because people in Philadelphia know their food and drink. There’s no better place to open than in a city where people take their food so seriously. In Philly, we always admired the food scene where there’s so much diversity, so much passion and so much willingness to try new things. When patrons embrace the quality, the vision, and the service, they become loyal customers for life. That is what we want. We are starting with Sushi Suite and Sushi by Boū, but we want to be around in Philadelphia for years with many more restaurants and concepts to come.”
