The south Allentown Checkers at 1935 S. Fourth St. will be hauled off, and a new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will be built in its place. My Morning Call reports that the 2,145 sq. ft Popeyes will open sometime in the first quarter of 2023. The Checkers signage was removed, and the building, which is a modular structure, will have its anchor bolts removed and will be carted off so construction on the Popeyes can begin.
