The beloved eatery quietly posted its sign in the former home of Classic Sandwiches earlier this week. Steve’s Prince of Steaks has not released an official announcement regarding its first New Jersey location. There is no current indication of when the restaurant will open its doors.

What Now Philadelphia reached out to Abbe Arno for a statement and was met with a firm but polite “no comment”. Arno, who runs Steve’s with father Steven Iliescu and brother Ross Iliescu, encouraged future check-ins on the status of the project.

Steve Iliescu opened his first Steve’s Prince of Steaks in 1980. The restaurant quickly became a Philadelphia staple and one of the most beloved Philly Cheesesteaks in America. Steve’s uses quality ingredients and emphasizes the use of cheese whiz over provolone.

Steve’s Prince of Steaks currently has three locations. The Wildwood restaurant will be the establishment’s first facility outside of Pennsylvania.

In addition to cheesesteaks, Steve’s menu includes chicken steaks, hamburgers, and hoagies.
