The bakery, opening at 1807 Chestnut Street, will be donating a cookie to CHOP for every cookie sold at the grand opening on September 14.
Taylor Chip is looking forward to the opportunity to brighten a child’s day with its sweet treats. A press release provided to What Now Philadelphia shows that the brand will fit in well with Philly’s unique sense of community. “Taylor Chip is headed to Philadelphia because of what the city represents: a community that embraces each other, showcasing grit and support of anything Philly-made. It’s this sense of community spirit that was the inspiration for Taylor Chip to decide to donate one cookie to CHOP for every cookie sale at the grand opening.”
Taylor Chip, the passion project of Doug and Sara Taylor, takes a healthier approach to baked goods, one certain to bring joy to children in need of smiles. The brand has a personal connection to CHOP; Taylor Chip’s creative director Cameron Broadhurst explains “This is a program that carries a lot of meaning for me. CHOP has been there for my family since I was a kid. I remember sleeping on the couches next to my little brother when my family would take him in for treatments his whole life. He later passed away at CHOP after being diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in 2018 and I’m just super thankful for the support CHOP has given my family. CHOP instantly came to mind when we thought of different ways to get involved in the Philly community. They did so much for my brother—we want to give back to CHOP, bringing the same comfort they brought to my family to others.”
Taylor Chip, which will also be selling ice cream and coffee in its new Philly home, intends to become an essential part of the Philadelphia landscape. CEO Doug Taylor states: “”We at Taylor Chip want to support Philly families in need. As a father myself, I’ve witnessed first-hand the tremendous work CHOP puts into this great city. This is the start of many opportunities to give back to the community that’s supported us.”
