A representative of Tommy’s Tavern + Tap could not immediately be reached for comment, or to confirm an opening date.

The architectural plans published by 42 Freeway last Saturday, Sep 17, show extensive remodeling that will be done to the building’s exterior, along with a covered patio that was originally open-air.

Back in 2021, What Now Philadelphia reported that Tommy’s Tavern + Tap was eyeing a spring 2022 opening for a location in Delaware’s Christiana Mall, however, by all accounts it seems that project has not yet come to fruition. To date, the brand – which is operated alongside Tio Taco + Tequila Bar by the wider Triple T Hospitality group – has eight locations, the bulk of which are in New Jersey with one in Staten Island.

Though the kitchen is perhaps best known for its signature pizzas, the menu is pretty expansive, covering everything from pasta and burgers to sushi and poke bowls, with a full bar and dessert menu to boot. What’s more, Tommy’s Tavern + Tap was named Monmouth County’s #1 Sports Bar and Restaurant in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020.

Tommy’s Tavern + Tap is a family-owned sports bar and restaurant that was founded in 2015 by the brand’s namesake, Tommy Bonfiglio, who passed away earlier this year. The business is now run by Bonfiglio’s daughters as well as his wife, who also stands as the co-founder, Yvette DellaValle Bonfiglio.

On their official website, the late Tommy Bonfiglio writes, “I grew up learning many old school values which have guided me my entire life…values like ‘always work hard,’ ‘never cut corners,’ ‘always do your best,’ and ‘keep your word.’ Today these values help guide our family owned business…and I passionately believe in passing along these values to my children and grandchildren.”
