The bakery will be setting up shop at 12 North Black Horse Pike this fall. Ariona Rose, who works with her mother Alisa Johnson on the concept, tells What Now Philadelphia that the location provides Brown’s with both geographic convenience and the chance to introduce something unique to a community on the grow. Speaking of the new storefront, she states: “It’s in between me and my mom and I have an 11-year-old sister so prioritizing a middle ground was important. Runnemede is an up-and-coming neighborhood and bringing something different would be great for both us and the community.”

Rose, who brings an impressive array of skills from her previous careers as a department head for NBCUniversal, explains that a return to the Garden State inspired the new enterprise. “I was traveling for a couple for years for work and I finally settled back down in New Jersey. My parents did as well, so it seemed like the perfect time for us.”

Brown’s began as an e-commerce business that did local events and community outreach. The brick and mortar will allow Rose and her family to realize their vision for a warm and welcoming bakery experience. She describes it, saying “My mom comes from a big Italian family, and the big thing to us was just sitting around the table together and having moments together. The name came from a nickname my grandfather gave my mom.” She goes on to describe the fare future regulars can look forward to, stating: “It will be a full service cake pop cafe, we will be offering seasonal specialties. We built our platform on a signature lineup of 8 flavors that will be available year round. We’ll be offering unique beverages, both hot and cold and a curated list of snack offerings-prepackaged snacks as well as the cakepops will be freshly baked.”

Locals won’t have to wait much longer to sample the bakeries delicious treats. Rose states that the build-out will be finished in the next two weeks, and she’s aiming for an October 5 grand opening.

Rose and her family intend for Brown’s to be more than just a place to buy delectable cake pops; they want it to be a warm place to enjoy community. She sums it up, saying: “We want to instill that sense of family and sense of togetherness through something sweet.”
