Charlie Brown’s Gets a Second Chance in Woodbury

Charlie Brown's will reopen sometimes in the first quarter of 2022.

Charlie Brown’s Fresh Grill will reopen its Woodbury, NJ location, much to the delight of local fans. The pandemic forced the chain to permanently shutter 13 of its 14 restaurants during the last quarter of 2020. The Scotch Plains Charlie Brown’s is the only one currently open. However, Woodbury Mayor Peg Sickel reports that other locations are under consideration for reopening.

“It is with great anticipation that we can announce that it is official – CHARLIE BROWN’S FRESH GRILL is returning to Woodbury!” Sickel wrote in a newsletter. “The empty building on Broad Street was a somber reminder to our residents of the loss of one of our beloved restaurant locations. Woodbury residents would reach out to the owners on their website to tell their own stories of special events that took place in those walls. Woodbury’s voices were heard, and it is the FIRST location to be reopened, with the others being evaluated for
their viability.”

According to 42 Freeway.com, the building at 111 N. Broad St. was put up for sale at one point. It will undergo interior and exterior renovations before it reopens sometime in the first quarter of 2022. Charlie Brown’s Fresh Grill, which opened in 1996 as Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse, is known for its affordable menu of steaks and burgers, as well as its Unlimited Farmer’s Market Salad Bar.

“We are extremely excited to be back and reopen in town. The town has always been very good to us. It’s a very tight-knit community, and we have been working extremely closely with the City Council and the Mayor who have been extremely helpful to us,” Max Drattell, the director of business development for Quail Springs Culinary, which currently owns the brand, told What Now Philadelphia.
