The Marlton location is being built from the ground up and is slated to open in the summer of 2022. It is located at the Renaissance Square shopping center, occupying the site of a former Kmart at Route 70 and North Locust Avenue.

Nicknamed “Chegg,” by devoted regulars, the new outpost will join the original Beach Haven eatery, and LaScala’s other successful restaurants, LaScala’s Fire, LaScala’s Birra, and LaScalas’s Pronto.

The restaurant draws patrons from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Beloved for its hearty breakfast and wings, Chegg has deep community ties. It opened in 1991 as a small luncheonette next door to Bill’s Barber Shop.

LaScala bought the Chegg concept from retiring founders Mark and Craig Cohen about four years ago.

Though he’s keeping many cherished elements, including the 30-year old menu, the Marlton outpost will gain a modern look. The large beer garden will feature an outdoor bar with a variety of seating options and firepits. Diners will also enjoy occasional live entertainment.

LaScala, who himself resides in Marlton, told the Cherry Hill Courier Post that he’s “excited to add value to the town I live in and provide another dining place in Marlton.”
