The Deptford pizza scene is about to get a bit more square. Santucci’s, known for shirking the conventional round pizza shape, is opening a new location in the area this fall.
The pizzeria will be firing up its ovens in a stand-alone building located at 1710 Clements Bridge Road. Franchisee John Dingler informs What Now Philadelphia that the building previously housed an eyeglass factory.
Dingler and his business partner Steve Bombaro are having a busy year. The pair are also launching a Santucci’s in Cherry Hill, but Dingler is particularly excited to bring the pizza staple to his hometown. He states “I live in Deptford and know the area is very busy and would love a Santucci’s pizza.”
Deptford pizza fans can look forward to greeting cooler weather with a fresh, hot slice. Dingler explains that he’s hoping to have the restaurant open and operational in early fall.
Future customers unfamiliar with Santucci’s distinctive menu can anticipate delicious, square pies. Dingler describes the local chain’s signature dish, stating: “They’re famous for their square pizza-that’s their staple. They don’t sell round, they’re square only. Cheese on the bottom, gravy on top, that’s what they’re known for.”
Santucci’s has made a strong impression on the local dining scene and established itself as one of the area’s indispensable eateries. Dingler states: “We feel like Santucci’s is a Philadelphia staple. It’s a good name, and an amazing family. They make good product, great food.”
