Timeout Sports Bar, the local sports bar where you can “cheer for your favorite hometown team on high definition televisions, sit back relax, and be comfortable,” is looking to expand before the end of the year — the restaurant is not to be confused with Jimmy’s Timeout Sports Pub.

Owner Tom Scott last week was issued a building permit to expand the existing sit-down restaurant, at 3709 Schuyler Street.

Scott on Monday was not immediately available to comment.

Expected to spend an estimated $110,000 in renovations, Scott will add a bar and additional seating on the second floor, alongside a new bathroom. Plans also call for a rooftop deck, a source with first-hand knowledge of the project told What Now Philadelphia in a telephone conversation Monday.

Although the City has given Timeout Sports Bar the green light to start construction, demolition likely won’t begin for upwards of six months, the source said. The permit is valid through September 24, 2022.

In addition to being a go-to spot for watching the big game, Timeout Sports Bar has played host to karaoke nights, live music, and is known for its late nite eats. The restaurant’s “Red Menu,” available from 11 p.m. to 1 p.m., offers patrons flatbreads, tacos, and burgers.
