New Jersey gourmands hungry for delicious wood fired pizza and freshly baked breads will soon have a new favorite place to grab a bite to eat. Local restaurateur Aimee McElroy is opening CatBird Wood Fired Kitchen in Asbury Park this spring, reports local media outlet Asbury Park Press.
The restaurant, located at 1215 Sunset Avenue, will offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior will provide accommodations for up to 46 customers. CatBird owner Aimee McElroy spoke with What Now Philadelphia about opening her latest concept in the Asbury Park area, stating “I am so lucky to be able to open another restaurant in Asbury Park, where I also live.”
McElroy intends to channel her passion for wood fire preparation into her new project. She explains “My inspiration for Catbird Asbury Park, wood fired kitchen, is a continuation of my passion as a wood fired pizza maker, bread baker and all things wood fired.”
In addition to freshly baked pizzas and breads, CatBird will feature an exciting and unusual drink program. The restaurant will include a rotating array of non-alcoholic spirits as well as sparkling and botanical beverages. CatBird will be a BYOB establishment, offering both dine in and take-out options.
McElroy and her team are working to refurbish CatBird’s new space. McElroy says “The restaurant is in the rough build-out phase of construction. We are cleaning and updating the cabin, which was built around 1960. We are looking at a soft opening date for the Spring.”
Future regulars can look forward to an evolving seasonal menu, featuring daily specials. CatBird promises to be an essential part of the Asbury Park community. McElroy looks forward to feeding and serving her neighborhood. She states “This community is so supportive of small businesses and it is where I always see myself living & owning a business, and I am thrilled to be opening in the former Sunset Landing space which has such a great history. Words cannot express how excited I am.”
