Glu Hospitality is looking to bring more bagels to Philly with new Bagel & Co. locations. Bagel & Co. currently has a single Philadelphia location at 1001 N. 2nd St., and Glu is currently eyeing Center City, Old City, and Fishtown as new homes for Bagel & Co.
“We haven’t closed on anything yet for a second location, but our goal is to have two more locations under lease in six months,” Glu Hospitality Owner and Managing Partner Derek Gibbons told What Now Philadelphia. “
Glu, which has 13 concepts under its belt, has several of its full-service restaurants in a concentrated area and are looking to Bagel & Co., their only fast-casual concept, as a means of branching out to other areas.
“Bagels & Co. is more for each neighborhood. So, the growth there is in expansion,” said Gibbons. “It’s a brand we’re really proud of and one of those concepts that you can open in every neighborhood.”
According to Glu’s website, Bagels & Co. sells Brooklyn-style bagels and Costa Rican coffee with a Philly vibe. So, you’re getting the best coffee and bagels that the country has to offer in Philadelphia. The concept was crafted after bringing a coffee roaster, NYC bagel shop owner, and local hospitality group together to create the ideal neighborhood café.
Bagels & Co. boasts more than a dozen fresh bagel varieties made on-site with two dozen types of cream cheese, including flavors like black truffle, za’atar, and honey nut. Bagels & Co. also sells sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and pick-me-ups like their Red Bull cooler.
In the meantime, Glu Hospitality is celebrating the opening of its dual Italian concept in Northern Liberties. Figo Pizzeria and Figo Ristorante will be serving Bagel & Co. coffee when their side-by-side location opens at 1033 N. 2nd St. on Friday.
