“We have been working with our architects to develop a property that would fit with the character of Rehoboth and the boardwalk,” Grotto Pizza’s vice president, Jeff Gosnear, told the Delaware Business Times, adding, We do not have a cost estimate yet, and we are not sure how long it will take to get approvals from the town.”

A spokesperson for Grotto Pizza did not immediately return a request for comment.

According to the submitted plans, the new boutique hotel sits at four stories, with 14,021 square feet on the first floor that will house a new Grotto Pizza location, along with several retail spaces. Meanwhile, the second floor is reserved for 16 hotel rooms, a gym, breakfast joint, kitchen, and outdoor pool. The third and fourth floors will be all rooms, with parking nestled beneath the structure.

Incidentally, this won’t be the company’s first foray into the hospitality industry, as it currently operates a short-term rental above its outpost at 15 N. Boardwalk.

Grotto Pizza has been serving the Delaware community, as well as Pennsylvania and Maryland, for six decades across 23 locations.

Signature pies include the Mama Grotto, Baker’s Choice, and Buffalo Chicken.
