“We are so incredibly excited to deliver our juicy burgers, crispy chick’n sandwiches, sweet potato fries, and shakes to North Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, and I love that we can now reach the towns where I grew up and went to school,” HipCityVeg CEO and Founder Nicole Marquis said in a press release.

HipCityVeg started looking at “Go Kitchen” takeout and delivery locations after the pandemic grew their online delivery orders from 15 to 60 percent. Wyncote’s The Fresh Grocer, which is operated by Brown’s Super Stores, will be HipCityVeg’s first location inside a grocery store. Marquis touted Brown’s Super Stores’ CEO Jeff Brown as the “ideal” partner “to build our mission and vision for a healthier Philadelphia and a better world.”

“As the diets and choices of our customers are shifting to plant-based and other healthier options, we are eager to partner with HipCityVeg,” said Brown. “Bringing one of the most exciting vegan brands to the Fresh Grocer of Wyncote will now enable our shoppers to have this innovative offering right in their local supermarket.”

The fast-casual chain currently has nine locations in the Philadelphia area, Washington D.C., and New York City. They are currently planning a massive expansion inside and outside of their current markets, which will give them 15 locations across the Mid-Atlantic region in 2022. The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that new locations are planned for Philly’s Port Richmond section, as well as Brooklyn, NYC, and the Brentwood and Navy Yard locations in D.C. The first HipCityVeg opened in Philly in 2012.
