A unique concept that invites visitors to pour their own drinks has Philadelphia expansion on its mind. Tapster, founded in Chicago by Roman Maliszewski in 2017, is taking steps to increase its presence in the City of Brotherly Love, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

While no leases have been signed or definitive locations selected, Maliszewski has expressed interest in the Fishtown, Northern Liberties, and East Passyunk neighborhoods. While the brand is engaging in a national push to spread its distinctive bar experience, Maliszewski is particularly confident in Tapster’s ability to thrive in Philly.

“I believe Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs are the best places to franchise. I’m based in Philly and would love to help franchisees grow their business in my home. I’ve loved the reactions to Tapster Philly, and I believe there is room for 2-3 more in the city.” he tells What Now Philadelphia.

Maliszewski is actively seeking out franchisees, but has not yet signed any for the Philadelphia expansion. Each store will, ideally, occupy 2,000 to 2,500 square feet.

Tapster’s unusual business model allows guests to put money on a Tapster card they then use to access a tap containing more than 40 beverages, both alcoholic and non.
