The beloved Aussie café and provisions store, Tucker at the Silk Mill, announced that it will close its door at the Simon Silk Mill on Christmas Eve and reopen in Downtown Easton in the summer of 2022. But before Tucker reopens in an adjacent space from their in-progress project Kabinett Wine Bar + Garden at 125 Northhampton St., husband and wife owners Jason Hoy and Melanie Hansche will be taking a break to spend time with family.

“Following an extended winter break to decompress and reconnect with family (some of whom we haven’t seen in two years), we’ll be going into hibernation before relocating from the Silk Mill to a bigger space in downtown Easton in the summer of 2022 (adjacent to our new business Kabinett Wine Bar + Garden),” the couple announced on social media.

Hoy and Hansche opened Tucker at the Silk Mill in 2017 as the first eatery to open its doors at the Simon Silk Mill redevelopment project, according to lehighvalleylive.com. The larger space in Downtown Easton will allow for a bigger kitchen and dining room, expanded menu, and hybrid community grocery store/restaurant, which they likened to a “compact version of NYC’s Eataly.” A walk-in cool room will allow Hoy and Hansche to grow their charitable efforts with their community partners like Paxinosa Elementary School and Second Harvest Food Bank. They will continue to donate fresh produce to families in need through January. Tucker at the Silk Mill will offer 30 percent off of everything in-store (except for menu items) and online (with the code stuffmystocking) for their Christmas Clearance Sale.

“Thank you so much for your support these last four years at the Silk Mill. It’s been so special building community and connection, and we’re looking forward to our next chapter and serving you plenty of deliciousness in 2022 and beyond at the next iteration of Tucker,” their social media post read. “Going into hibernation will allow us to focus our energy, resources, heart, and soul into launching these two exciting new businesses in Downtown Easton.”
