Jersey residents shouldn’t count their chickens just yet; the brand is still in the very preliminary stages of planning. Bonchon has entered agreement with the state to open restaurants in Hudson, Morris, and Union counties. However, the chain is still actively scouting locations in each of these territories. No precise locations have been selected, nor leases signed. No estimated opening dates are currently available.

Bonchon hopes to continue the success it has already enjoyed with its seven existant New Jersey eateries. Vice President of Operations, Amanda Millikan, states “Based on the success of our locations in New York City and other parts of New Jersey, we knew North Jersey would be ideal for expansion.”

Bonchon fried its first chicken in South Korea in 2002. The chain arrived in the United States in 2006 and quickly won myriad fans. The restaurant currently operates more than 400 global locations, 122 of which are in the United States.

While Bonchon’s specialty is Korean fried chicken, the restaurant also offers authentic dishes like bulgogi and tteokbokki. Pickier eaters can enjoy sliders, potstickers, fries, and onion rings.
