Philadelphia will soon be able to enjoy a taste of New York, without ever leaving the city. Popular chain, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, will be debuting its first Philly location this winter, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The restaurant, opening at 308 South Street, is one of several planned for the greater Philadelphia region over the next few years. Local franchisee Nick Sordoni originally intended the inaugural shop to open in late 2022, however Brooklyn Dumpling should be able to begin greeting guests on an as-of-yet unannounced December date.
The Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is an introvert’s dream come true. Customers place their orders via a scanner or delivery app, then receive a QR code. The QR codes, when scanned, open a window that contains the guest’s food. No contact ever occurs between visitors and staff.
The franchise developed as a direct result of the pandemic, as a way to safeguard staff and clients. The first Brooklyn Dumpling Shop opened in Manhattan in 2021, and quickly spread to New Jersey and Connecticut. The growing franchise has big plans for further expansion, including the opening of several Canada locations.
In addition to a wide variety of dumplings, guests can enjoy potstickers, chop chop bowls, spring rolls, and sides including waffle fries and lo mein noodles.
