While Pizza Huts are scarce in some parts of the country, they have a decent presence in the Greater Philadelphia Area. You could add one more to that list when a new location opens in what appears to be the Holmesburg neighborhood of Philly. A new Pizza Hut will open this summer in a strip mall at 8729-8749 Frankford Ave., which is anchored by Deluxe Pharmacy.
Pizza Hut was started in 1958 by two brothers in Wichita, Kansas, with $600 they borrowed from their mom. They named it Pizza Hut because they could only fit eight letters on their sign. In 2001, Pizza Hut became the first company to deliver to space with a pizza delivery to the International Space Station. Pizza Hut is now a part of Yum! Brands and has more than 18,000 restaurants in over 100 countries.
