The new location, slated to open at 1836 Catasauqua Road if all goes according to plan, will be the Lehigh Valley’s second Raising Cane’s. The lot at the intersection of Airport Road and Route 22 previously housed a Friendly’s restaurant.
Raising Cane’s presented its plans at a recent township meeting, where the chicken mavens requested a special exception for “joint use of common parking lot spaces”, most likely with the adjacent Red Roof Inn.
Lower Macungie granted approval for the region’s first Raising Cane’s earlier this year. Both Lehigh Valley restaurants are too early in the planning stages to offer an estimated opening date yet. However, it is safe to assume the Catasauqua Road location will not open until mid-2024 at the earliest.
Raising Cane’s opened its first store in Baton Rouge in 1996. In the years since its inception, the chicken restaurant has seen massive growth, ballooning to include more than 700 stores.
Raising Cane’s owes a great deal of its success to the simplicity of its menu. The restaurant focuses on two entrees, both made fresh to order. Guests can choose between chicken fingers or a chicken sandwich. The eatery offers combo deals that allow customers to pair their poultry with Texas Toast, coleslaw, or crinkle-cut fries.
