Philadelphia breakfasts are about to get more exciting. Up-and-coming bagel shop, Bagels & Co. has massive plans for Pennsylvania expansion through 2024, reports local media outlet Penn Live.
Breakfast fans won’t need to wait until next year to see the first of the new shops open. Glu Hospitality, the company spear-heading Bagels & Co.’s expansion, intends to open four Pennsylvania locations before the end of 2023.
Official dates have not been announced for the newest stores, however their locations are listed as “coming soon” on the Bagels & Co. website. Three of the bakeries will be located in Philadelphia, with another opening in State College. The Philadelphia shops are slated for Temple University, at 1431 Cecil B.Moore Avenue, another in Midtown at 17 South 11th Street, and the last will be in South Philly at 2201 Washington Avenue. The Penn State Bagels & Co. will open at 330 West College Avenue.
These four restaurants are only the opening salvo of Bagels & Co.’s plans for Pennsylvania. Glu Hospitality plans to open 20 new locations in 2024, spread across Pennsylvania and Florida. Glu’s COO Derek Gibbons states “Our initial expansion will be in Florida and Pennsylvania which we believe offers incredible growth opportunities for the Bagels & Co. brand.”
Glu is hoping that Pennsylvania will open the doors for a broader American expansion. Gibbons explains “Our future plans call for expanding beyond that to several states and eventually a national rollout. We appeal to a wide audience. After all, who doesn’t like bagels and cream cheese, especially with the flavors we offer?”
Indeed, the breadth of variety Bagels & Co. offers is a large part of what makes the company unique. The bakery makes the compulsory classics like whole wheat and blueberry bagels, but also a striking range of unusual offerings, like cheddar habanero and French toast. The shop’s selection of flavored cream cheeses is even more impressive. Customers can choose between savory options like black truffle and bacon cheddar and sweet choices like cookies monster or birthday cake. Bagels & Co. even has vegan options.
