Stephen Star’s boutique restaurant at the incoming sports betting and entertainment venue Bankroll, at 1919 Chestnut St., will boast 400 seats and more than 100 tables. Michael Palermo, vice president of development, construction, and facilities at Starr Restaurants, told Philadelphia Business Journal that the 18,000 sq. ft. project, which will take over the historical former Boyd Theatre and a Gap store that is next door, will include five separate venues.

A larger space will seat about 100 guests, another will serve as a 130-set “more formal restaurant” located at the front of the building on the first floor, while a 40 guest event space will inhabit the mezzanine and be available for private parties. There will also be a space for about 60 guests with “living room seating pods,” and a larger bar in the great room that has 25-stool and two smaller bars with seating for eight and 10.

“The restaurant is being built and developed to be comfortable for sports enthusiasts and also comfortable for guests that are not primarily interested in sports,” Palermo told the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Bankroll will allow customers to order food, control TVs, and place bets with licensed sports betting app partners in their venue. The project is currently awaiting approval of zoning variances.
