VINYL announces the grand opening of Philadelphia’s newest live music, entertainment, and nightlife venue. Introducing a hospitality experience that seamlessly combines live entertainment, crafted cocktails and cuisine, and a vibrant atmosphere under one roof. VINYL is located at 215 S. 15th St (15th Street between Locust & Walnut Streets).
The 5,000-sf venue is the brainchild of renowned restaurateur Rob Wasserman (Rouge, Twenty Manning, Charley Dove) and entertainment industry veteran Josh Zwirzina (The Ave) who has produced concerts at the city’s largest entertainment venues – The Filmore, Franklin Music Hall, Union Transfer and more. Behind daily operations will be General Manager Talia Tomarchio, bringing expertise working in renowned nightlife destinations like Miami and Las Vegas to create Philadelphia’s best VIP experience.
“VINYL is the culmination of Josh and my collective passions for music, food and drink, and exceptional hospitality,” says Rob Wasserman, VINYL co-owner in a statement. “We can’t wait to introduce Philadelphia and beyond to our world-class stage with an electrifying line-up of musical talents in a space that is welcoming and accessible to all.”
VINYL will offer live entertainment four nights a week. From dueling pianos, local and headliner DJs, modern rock, country and more.
Creative Director Maggie Huth designed the venue with inspiration from Wasserman’s vision and direction from Otto Architects. In a historic building, VINYL marries classic Philadelphia architecture with modern embellishments.
VINYL’s exterior windows feature four large-scale LED murals by local artist, David Guinn. Guinn’s murals reimagine the look of lush living room curtains in a contemporary language of bold stripes and animated LED neon lighting. The lighting runs on a continuous loop of shifting colors and moods, enlivening the streetscape day and night. The designs are an homage to Guinn’s father – Michael Guinn – a lifelong Center City artist known for his paintings embellished with curving stripes.
In addition, VINYL’s beverage menu was curated by Beverage Director Ross Binder, full of creative craft cocktails, bottle service for VIP lounge seating, a selection of wines, local beers, and more. To complete the VINYL experience, Executive Chef James McQueen and Culinary Director Matthew Moon have created a menu of shareable light bites including tuna tartare tacos, flatbreads, a selection of caviar, and more.
“VINYL is about to introduce a new way to enjoy live music in Philadelphia,” says co-owner Zwirzina. “Located in the heart of Center City, our goal for Vinyl is to become a go-to live entertainment destination for Philadelphians and visitors alike with musical tastes at all levels.”
VINYL will be open Wednesdays & Thursdays from 5 pm-midnight and Fridays & Saturdays from 5pm-2 am, with plans to expand to Sunday brunch in early Fall. Happy hour is offered Wednesday – Saturday 5-7 pm, with a dedicated happy hour menu being introduced in August 2023. VINYL’s capacity is 350 guests, with 50 lounge seats, 15 bar seats, 40 cocktail seats, and a standing room.
