Despite the fact that Panda Express operates more than 2,300 stores worldwide, with numerous locations peppered around Philadelphia, this will be the first north of the Bensalem-Langhorne region.
Founded in Glendale, CA in 1983, Panda Express is to this day the brainchild of Andrew and Peggy Cherng, who have spent the past four decades making good on their promise “To deliver exceptional Asian dining experiences by building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives.”
The company achieves this through its Panda Cares initiative, a charitable organization set up in 1999 to “[serve] the communities in which we operate by providing food, funding, and volunteer services to underserved youth, and disaster relief efforts.”
Aside from that, however, the brand is largely known for its menu of Chinese classics made for American tastes, spanning each province within the vast and varied county such as Orange Chicken from Sichuan Province, Beijing Beef, Guangdong Province’s Sweetfire Chicken Breast, and Mushroom Chicken popularized in Yunnan Province.
