Boot Barn, a Western and workwear fashion and boot shop, will open its first Delaware store in Newark. The California-based retail chain will open sometime in March in a 14,715 sq. ft. space at Center Pointe Plaza in the former Modell’s at 1317 Churchmans Rd. The first Boot Barn opened in 1978 and was made famous selling cowboy boots and western wear. The company is now the leading retailer of western and workwear fashion and apparel in the nation. Boot Barn offers a modern take on men’s and women’s country chic fashion and makes workwear that is both durable and stylish. They also sell outdoor gear and fashion for lovers of the outdoors. The Boot Barn’s customers aren’t just western cowboys, they are the men and women who fuel our country.

Charlie Arbing, the vice president of real estate and construction at Boot Barn, says the brand plans to expand throughout the East Coast in New York, New Jersey, and New England since country-living isn’t exclusive to the west. Boot Barn currently has six locations in Pennsylvania.
“We tested stores in Pennsylvania to see how customers would react in the Northeast, and we pivoted our marketing a bit. There are a lot of work-oriented people there. Those stores might not sell a lot of 10-gallon cowboy cats or big boot buckles, but we do sell a lot of our jeans, baseballs hats, and boots. They’re still our customer, they’re just a little different than someone in San Antonio,” Arbing told What Now Philadelphia. “This location is a great place for our store in Delaware, being near the Christiana Mall and DelPark. We know it’s a great place to open and find the customer base we’re continuing to build on all the way up the East Coast.”
