“I’m excited to announce that we’re opening Pizzeria Salvy,” Vetri wrote on his personal Instagram account, adding, “This pizzeria will be a true Philadelphia story, all about growing up Philly, the memories they invoke, and pizzas that are created around those memories and moments.”

At the moment, Vetri hasn’t divulged any details regarding Pizzeria Salvy’s location or opening date, and requests for comment from What Now Philadelphia were not returned.

Nevertheless, Vetri says in the post that the restaurant “will have a selection of 12-inch pies, our version of NY slice, a taglio, and of course Sal’s meatballs,” which the elder Vetri will be serving on-site. “Beautiful local grains will be woven into the dough as well. Simply great ingredients with great results.”

Vetri’s career is inextricably linked to Sal, who’s played a pivotal role in various Vetri concepts over the years. As the Instagram post notes, “From growing up a block from Fiorella, [Sal] has traveled everywhere to cook with me, was a prep cook at Vetri, sliced every single onion that went into the onion crepe for our first 10 years, has made his legendary family meals at Vetri and Amis three days a week up until 2020, and has become synonymous with his meatball recipe.”
