Stephen Starr is one of the best-known restaurateurs currently operating in the country. The founder of Starr Restaurants, the Philadelphia native has been responsible for some of the city’s favorite restaurants, including Frankford Hall, The Dandelion, el rey, LMNO, and Parc, though that barely scratches the surface of Starr’s impressive empire. Our intrepid reporters at What Now Philly previously covered Starr’s recent expansion into the Comcast Center as well as his recent partnership with Bankroll. Now, the indefatigable restaurateur is planning a brand new concept for The Wells Fargo Center at 3601 S Broad Street.

The as-yet-unnamed eatery is slated to replace The Grille, which had spent many years at the center as a sit-down chophouse. Like The Grille, Starr’s new restaurant will be open exclusively to ticket holders for Flyers and Sixers games, as well as attendees of select concerts and events. Designed by the iconic Rockwell Group, the new space will seat approximately 300 guests, offering direct views of Flyers and Sixers games alongside floor-to-ceiling windows displaying vistas of the Philadelphia Skyline.

Starr’s new restaurant will be joining several other new bars and projects that are planned to launch alongside the next Flyers and Sixers season this Fall. The space will celebrate the history of Philadelphia’s long sporting tradition, and will offer classic Philadelphia-based food options in an upscale tavern setting.

Wells Fargo Center President Valerie Camillo said of the deal that “Stephen Starr is synonymous with culinary excellence here in Philly and all around the world, and this new restaurant concept at Wells Fargo Center is just one more way to ensure our arena remains cutting edge and world class for decades to come,” adding that their “ongoing transformation project is all about honoring the great history of Philadelphia sports – while also celebrating the latest and greatest that Philadelphia has to offer.”

Fans will be able to look forward to enjoying this new space when it opens later this year in October, when the Flyers and Sixers begin their Fall season.
